About the role
AstraZeneca's R&D Data Office is an industry-leading enabler of data and AI strategy.
The Data Office provides data services, technology, and data products, supported by data and AI policy and governance, to unlock the value of data that drive innovative science.
Our team are responsible for the end to end hosting, processing and management of scientific data, including medical imaging and 'omic data, to enable cross R&D use; they will make data "FAIR" (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable) and ensure the data is managed appropriately.
You will work autonomously, supervising the work of others where needed, to perform data pipeline operations supported by the group leader.
Your work will ensure that the right R&D and scientific data content is available to downstream users, appropriately and compliantly managed.
Your responsibilities include responding to and completing requests for imaging, omics and other scientific datasets required for cross R&D use, including performing operations such as data ingestion and reporting upon associated data assets held within the associated systems.
As a part of this execution, you will have oversight of automated flows into systems and catalogues, plus manual data stewardship and data management tasks.
In close collaboration with your counterpart in Study Patient Product and Platforms you will develops operational knowledge and expertise on omics, imaging and R&D data lake processes ensuring consistency wherever possible.
Your role supporting internal customers to achieve outcomes, contributing to development of structured measures of operational activity (e.g., operational metrics on data utilisation) and then use the information to actively contribute to the continuous improvement of scientific data services is key to our success.
When changes to processes are commissioned, you will be responsible for ensuring that these are appropriately documented, versioned and applied.
Throughout these processes, you will ensure operations align with associated data policies and standards, to help manage data risks, e.g., data privacy risk.
Requirements:
Essential:
- Demonstrable experience in a data analyst or business analysis role aligned to data and information management with practical examples of performing data analysis, data management or data processing according to gathered requirements
- Business process mapping expertise: using asis and tobe process mapping and ability to author requirements or other structured technical documents
- Good communication skills both written and verbal
- Domain data understanding: base understanding of the structure, provenance and purpose of biomedical imaging, proteomic, transcriptomic, metabolomic and genomic data. Plus, base understanding of the business processes used the generation of these data in an R&D setting
- Able to support others in the delivery requirements analysis and data management activities
