About the position


The purpose of the Engineering Manager role is to strategically shape and implement the company's technical vision, leading a team of engineers to solve complex problems and drive continuous improvement.

This role fosters a culture of innovation, ensures optimal technology implementations, manages vendor relationships, and actively contributes to the company's technical and organizational growth while nurturing a talent pipeline through effective recruitment


REQUIREMENTS

Key responsibilities

  • Define and implement a companywide technical strategy that is aligned with the business needs.
  • Be responsible of managing and supervising different team leads in different areas withing the engineering department
  • Mentor the team, including helping them solve complex technical companywide problems.
  • Manages multiple technical teams within budget and project schedule ( quarterly roadmap )
  • Ensure the continuous improvements of the critical systems by using best practices: Incident Reports have clear outcomes, PRs happen in needed areas, contingency plans are in place, etc.
  • Support the tech department to identify hiring needs and participate actively in the recruitment process.
  • Continue to develop an engineering culture that embraces the Softonic engineering values.
  • Be a contributing engineer in his areas of knowledge.
  • Effectively communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders and collaborate with crossfunctional teams.
  • Engage in strategic planning for longterm technology initiatives, aligning technical decisions with overall business strategy.
  • Actively contribute as a handson engineer in areas of expertise, staying informed about emerging technologies.

Minimum experience and qualification
- +3 years of experience in a similar role

  • Working experience with hightraffic services and cloud providers
  • Technical Strategy and Vision: Ability to define and articulate a comprehensive technical strategy aligned with business goals. Visionary thinking to anticipate future technological trends and their potential impact on the business.
  • Leadership and Management: Experience in leading and managing a team of key engineers. Strong leadership skills to mentor and guide the team effectively. Ability to delegate tasks and responsibilities while maintaining accountability.
  • Technology Implementation: Indepth knowledge of various technologies relevant to the business ( Javascript and PHP background and Cliud providers). Experience in championing and leading technology change initiatives.
  • Working experience with Agile methodologies
  • Continuous Improvement: Familiarity with best practices for system improvements, including incident reporting, code reviews, and contingency planning. Proactive mindset for identifying areas of improvement and implementing changes.
  • Engineering Culture: Ability to shape and foster an engineering culture that aligns with the company's values. Commitment to Softonic engineering values and the ability to instill them in the team.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
