INTRODUCTION:

The position is located within Taiyo Golf Club, Retail Operations Section, Business Operations Branch, Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) Division, Camp S.

D. Butler, Okinawa, Japan.

The position performs cashier, sales associate, and reservation duties listed below to support daily Taiyo Golf Club operation under the supervision of the Pro Shop Manager.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operates a Golf point of sale (POS) system to include ringing up customer fees and retail purchases in both U.S.

Dollars and Japanese Yen.

Assists and serves customers with location, selection and purchase of merchandise. Assists Pro Shop Manager and Pro Shop Assistant in organizing merchandise, display, and appearance of assigned area(s). Ensures items are properly marked.

Checks merchandise, rings sales on cash register, receives payments, makes change, bags or wraps merchandise and completes related sales records.


Assists patrons with reserving tee times, starting or maintaining golf handicap accounts, registering for golf tournaments and scheduling of golf lessons.


Accepts cash, credit cards, personal checks, travelers' checks, and money orders from authorized patrons, assuring that proper identification is provided.

Checks patrons' names against appropriate identification as well as the Indebtedness List before processing the payment of personal checks, refund, etc.

Ensures the use of counterfeit detector pen in accepting bills, $10 (USD), ¿1000 (JPY) and higher.

Receives, counts, and verifies monies received, rings transactions through cash register/POS. Prepares necessary paperwork, to include change fund receipts, end of shift reports and cash balancing worksheet. Maintains appropriate logs as necessary.

May monitor dressing rooms. Performs general housekeeping duties such as vacuuming, cleaning or dusting fixtures and merchandise. Sorts, counts and re-stocks merchandise on a daily basis. Relays information on customer needs and stock levels of merchandise to management. May maintain preferred customer list and notify customers of new merchandise.

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.

Adheres to safety regulations and standards.

Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.

Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

Performs other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:


BASIC REQUIREMENTS:


  • Must be at least 18 years old AND have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school (Valid documentation will be required upon hire).
  • Must be able to accommodate a flexible work schedule to include weekend, holidays and night time.
  • Must be able to perform prolonged standing, walking, reaching, and lifting.
  • Must complete Cash Handling Training Course before handling fund and Refresher Course once per year.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


  • Six months of cashier experience preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of basic cash handling procedures and business mathematics, be familiar with currency, and be able to operate a cash register.
  • Excellent customer service skills and good communication skills orally and in writing.
