L1 Operations Engineer - FTTH / GPON Network Operations


Are you an experienced engineer with a passion for fiber optic networks? Join our team as an L1 Operations Engineer for an exciting project involving the end-to-end lifecycle of GPON OLT network planning, deployment, migration, testing, and operations for a prominent Telco in Spain.

As part of our team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our advanced FTTH network infrastructure.


Key Responsibilities:


  • 24x7 network monitoring and management of FTTH / GPON access network.
  • Efficiently create and manage incident tickets with accurate information.
  • Determine customer impact and prioritize tickets accordingly.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams for E2E incident management and coordination.
  • Provide remote troubleshooting guidance to field teams.
  • Perform complex troubleshooting of PON network faults, including OLT and ONT devices.
  • Configure and activate PON devices.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation and reports.
  • Participate in Major Incident Management Process, providing updates and insights as required.
  • Implement workarounds for known errors and contribute to postincident reviews.

Qualifications:


  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in GPON Fiber Network Operations.
  • Strong experience in FTTH network operations and broadband access networks.
  • Understanding of PON standards (ITU-TG.98x) and handson experience with SDH/WDM, FDH, FTTX & GPON Networks.
  • Troubleshooting expertise with OLT, ONT, and PON devices.
  • Proficiency in conducting new OLT service testing.
  • Handson knowledge of VLAN bridging, cross connects, xDSL, FTTx, and XGSPON technologies.
  • Familiarity with SIP, VOIP communication protocols, and ACS/TR69 autoconfiguration.
  • Good understanding of IP-MPLS, IPv4, IPv6, PPPoE, and IPoE protocols.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Diploma or Graduate in Engineering (preferably Electronics and Telecommunications).

Full-Time Employment (FTE).

Madrid, Spain-based position.
