Role of Department
A Multi-Line Claims Handler.

Liberty Specialty Markets Claims Department handling both Third Party and First Party claims of medium / moderate exposure and complexity, to ensure that claims are handled in the most efficient, effective way while delivering a customer-centric claims service, through all stages from initial notification to conclusion including investigate, analyze, and determine the extent of insurance company's liability concerning loss assigned, timely, accurate reserving in line with Corporate protocols and guidelines, negotiate claim settlements and making claims payments as required.


Key Responsibilities

  • The handling of any Line of Business claims through all stages from initial notification to conclusion including recording claims on relevant systems, coverage analysis, liability and quantum assessment, establishing and monitoring appropriate reserves.
  • Investigate, evaluate, negotiate claims of moderate to high complexity: handling and resolving claims efficiently and fairly in accordance with the Claims Charter/Code of Conduct and Claims Process Guidelines.
  • Client Focused delivering an excellent service to clients and brokers, to promote the LSM Claims Charter and Code of Conduct delivering a first class claims handling service.
  • Manage challenging coverage claims with professionalism
  • Provide high quality customer experience to all stakeholders (policyholder, broker and coinsurers, reinsurers, actuaries and underwriters)
  • Remain uptodate on industry trends and case law
  • Deliver corporate goals whilst promoting LSM's core values.
  • Proactively handling claims from first advice to closure, investing the necessary level of expertise required to investigate coverage, liability, quantum and strategy aspects of a file.
  • Managing multiple cases with confidence and accuracy and respond well to working to meet targets and tight deadlines
  • Follow at all times applicable claims reserving philosophy and claims standards with appropriate referral: present Manager losses above authority to obtain approval
  • Ensuring compliance with best practice, service and communication through system reporting and internal file audits
  • Ensuring compliance with approved Panel list including provision of direction to external lawyers and adjusters.
  • Ensure good file maintenance and record keeping.
  • Collaborate effectively with peers/other departments
  • Actively participate in and contribute as a member of the team on crossfunctional initiatives and innovations;

Skills and Experience

  • University Law Degree or equivalent
  • Extensive experience in the Insurance Market or in relation with the Insurance Business
  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment and across work groups: Ability to collaborate in a team environment; prioritize and multitask
  • Strong oral and written skills, including listening, interviewing, negotiating, must be able to flex style appropriate to audience.
  • Strong organizational; decision making and problem solving skillset
  • Able to draw valid conclusions and effectively communicate them.
  • Strong commitment to ongoing education and learning
  • Proactive and positive approach to customer service (Insured/Broker) ensuring that all inquiries are effectively dealt with in a timely manner
  • Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting priorities in an effective manner.
  • Knowledge of claims handling concepts, practices, procedures and techniques, including, but not limited to coverage issues, product lines, marketing, IT and product competition within the marketplace.
  • Collaborative, teamoriented attitude;
  • Selfmotivated and dynamic;
  • Fluent in English
  • Good IT skills.
