Working directly for the Head of Data Strategy & Solutions, and part of the DS&S leadership team, The
Senior Director,
Data Governance Lead is responsible for the systems and rules that ensure data is well-organized, safe, accessible, compliant, and valuable.

They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create, set up, and implement the data governance program - primarily focusing on the implementation of data governance frameworks to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and establish data governance best practices across the organization.

You will be expected to play a meaningful role in fostering a positive culture as part of the broader Evinova team globally and to work with colleagues across AstraZeneca.


What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Set the Evinova data governance strategy, and formalize and mature the governance operating model and frameworks for the organization
  • Collaborate with product teams, engineering, and legal/privacy to establish and maintain data policies and standards that enable use cases and ensure legal/ethical compliance
  • Define requirements and standards for metadata management; data mastering; data security; data lifecycle management; data taxonomy, data movement, migration, and integration; reference data, data quality, data modeling, knowledge management, and data stewardship; enterprise data committees, data working groups, data domain committees, etc.)
  • Establish the governance and quality standards for the organization's data management, insight production, and ensure monitoring, measurement, and compliance across the organization
  • Define and implement data governance operational processes (e.g., data quality measurement) per policies and standards, clearly articulating roles and responsibilities
  • Work with senior leaders, global technology teams, and business functions, to design solutions that sustainably drive data standardization, insights enablement, and a highquality data analytics lifecycle
  • Drive cultural change ensuring data governance initiatives are understood and adopted by the organization, worldwide
  • Lead enterprise data governance alignment with key organization collaborators, interested parties, and prioritization of the business's use cases and data activities
  • Define and develop enterprise data metrics and measures (e.g., data quality, "fit for use", etc.)
  • Establish and enhance data governance knowledge management capabilities (i.e. glossary tools, training, communications)
  • Support the business leaders with communication of key governance priorities and successes across the enterprise as needed
  • Provide leadership, career development, coaching, and mentoring for the data governance team.
