Descripción

The Computer Vision Center:

The Computer Vision Center (CVC) is a non-profit research center established in 1995 by the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB).

Its mission is to carry out cutting-edge research that has the highest international impact in the field of computer vision.

It also promotes the transference of knowledge to industry and society.

Computer vision is an exciting research area and an omnipresent technology, essentially empowering machines with the sense of vision. The CVC is a successful marriage between knowledge and innovation.

In addition to our cutting-edge scientific achievements, we have established lasting ties with industrial partners and created several spin-off companies.

Research area or group:

Our primary research interests are:

  • Colour constancy: where we work on building algorithms to estimate scene illuminant from the image content.
  • Colour-Texture perception: we work on computational models that simulate the chromatic induction of the human visual system.
  • Colour sharpening to get enhanced versions of colour images.
  • Colour Naming: to simulate the task of assigning a colour name or category to a specific image segment.
  • Texture Description: where we work on blob detection, as the basis for a high level and nonnumeric description of textures.
  • Colour & Texture grouping: to define mechanisms for segmenting images according to the chromatic and spatial relationships of the image elements.

Context and Mission:

The XIVE project (Explainable &

Interactive Visual Enhancement Ref:

PID OB-I00) whose goal is focusing on Visual Enhancement Challenges like: (a) Low-level Image Correction, (b) Digital Heritage Restoration, (c) Realistic Image Generation by building explainable and interactive models.

In the frame of this project, we offer a (3-4)-months Research Position to advance on the goals of the Work package 3.

4:

Evaluation of the techniques developed in the project for colour image editing, such as image relighting and image content manipulation.

The aim is to advance in the development of full architectures for intrinsic decomposition as a step to offer explainable physical models that build intermediate representations ready for generic content manipulation.

With special interest on relighting and colour editing.

This contract is part of the project PID OB-I00, funded by MCIN/ AEI/ / / y por FEDER, UE

Requirements:

This position requires at least 3 years of experience in research on these specific topics: experimental design on Supervised and Self-supervised Deep learning, Neural Fields models and all the related techniques.

Strong background with Colour Image formation models is also required.

Contract Conditions:

  • The position will be located at Computer Vision Center (Campus Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona).
  • We offer a parttime contract (30/week) temporary contract, a good environment, flexible working hours
  • Duration: 4 months
  • Starting date: towards end of May 2024
