    Position Overview As an Application/Site Reliability Engineer at Baxter Planning, you will be part of a collaborative, globally distributed Production Engineering team that operates at the intersection between software development, IT operations (DevOps), and technical support in service of maintaining uninterrupted operation across our suite of applications.

    Responsibilities of this role include monitoring, automating, and improving the reliability, performance, and availability of applications in addition to troubleshooting support escalation incidents.

    Activities can range from production code changes to supporting customer implementation configuration needs to alerting and monitoring adjustments.

    A critical responsibility for this role is to monitor and ensure receipt and processing of data from customer systems to Baxter Planning's products.

    Application/System Reliability Engineers are responsible for keeping all Baxter Planning applications and production services running smoothly.

    An ideal candidate will possess several skill sets including proficiency with data technologies, ETL, and SQL; familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, and/or Bash; working with Linux Systems and basic administration; passion for data analytics; and excellent communication skills.

    ResponsibilitiesSetup and evaluate monitors that alert on symptoms rather than outages for critical applications and services to minimize downtime and ensure their availabilityGather and analyze metrics from systems and applications to assist in performance tuning and fault findingParticipate in system design consulting and platform managementTroubleshoot complex application and environment issues and provide corrective measuresRespond to incidents and assist with root cause analysis (RCA) investigationsAssist with the configuration and operational deployment of Baxter Planning applicationsDevelopment of solutions to connect customer systems and extract and transform dataSupport and document production workflow processes ** This position is expected to work weekend days (Saturday and Sunday) with a schedule of either 5 days x 8 hours or 4 days x 10 hours.

    Qualifications5+ years of experience working in a system administration, site reliability, technical support, or data integration roleKnow your way around Linux and the Unix ShellFamiliarity with configuration management systems like Chef and AnsibleExperience optimizing queries for SQL and/or NoSQL databasesExperience working in version control systems such as Git and/or SVNExperience building monitors and alerts within AWS CloudWatch or other observability solutions such as New RelicProactive approach to identifying problems, performance bottlenecks, and areas for improvementDetail oriented and reliableStrong written and oral communication skillsFluency in English Attributes of an Ideal CandidateExperience with supply chain managementExperience deploying and managing services within AWSExperience managing and supporting enterprise, SaaS applicationsHighly curious and always seek to understand new parts of a complex domainWilling to proactively step in and do the right thing while providing candid and constructive feedbackPragmatic and business-oriented approach to problem solving
