The Challenge


Since our complexity is increasing and our product expands in other markets, our tech challenges are becoming more complex to solve.

We look for tech leaders to help us navigate through the complexity and lead the team to the next stage.


What You Will Do

  • Promote highimpact tech initiatives and prepare technical plans to improve our web platform based on business needs.
  • Participate in hiring (interviews and reviewing tech tests) and promote improvements in our hiring assessment activities.
  • Use data and insights to set the appropriate priorities and make the right decisions.
  • Review some code and ensure the chosen strategy is going in the right direction.
  • Collaborate closely with other engineers across Wallapop and help them grow through technical leadership and mentoring.
  • Guide and facilitate architecture and infrastructure decisions helping our web peers to do their work in the product teams.

What We're Looking For

  • You have previous experience defining and leading a technical strategy for evolving and scaling web products.
  • You have a deep understanding and strong fundamentals in JavaScript/TypeScript concepts, frameworks (especially React and Angular) and web architecture.
  • You master the engineering practices that ensure the delivery of highquality software.
  • You are an excellent communicator and you can speak to technical and nontechnical stakeholders on the appropriate level of abstraction.
  • You share your knowledge with others and help them grow. You have experience mentoring engineers and introducing them to the best engineering practices.
  • You have strong analytical skills and you use them to reach tradeoffs between tech and business needs.
  • You have a growth mindset. You embrace challenges and celebrate wins as well as failures.
Do note that all our jobs are Barcelona-based.

We work in a mostly remote capacity offering great flexibility to our employees, but we believe in the power of getting together regularly in our office.

As a first iteration, we expect a 4+ day/month office attendance for which the specifics are decided on a team level.

Our hiring process

  • PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL INTERVIEWS TAKE PLACE REMOTELY OVER HANGOUTS
  • Intro Call
  • Ran by talent acquisition. It will take 3045 minutes and will focus on giving you more information about the role and the company as well as going over your experience and expectations.
  • Home test: We will send you a test which you should complete within a few days, to assess your technical skills
  • Competency Interview ran by talent acquisition and hiring manager. We will focus on gaining insights and understanding of how you operate in the workplace and your fit to our values. This usually takes 45 min to 1 hour.
