Local Category Manager

Position purpose:

This position will be responsible for leading some areas of M&S procurement category within Iberia (Marketing and Sales).

The Category Manager will have the entire responsibility to develop a detailed procurement strategy with support from Iberia Procurement Lead and generate substantial benefit/added value for all categories under his responsibility.


What will you do - responsibilities:

  • Identify the category strategy and detailed action plan/program to be addressed
  • Establish and lead crossfunctional project teams to manage the development and implementation of the procurement category strategy and agree the strategy with the Iberia Procurement Manager and internal customer departments
  • Deliver the procurement category strategy including sourcing activities which generate benefits and achieve financial savings targets through insight and analysis of category and sub categories areas
  • Analysis of procurement spend and supply base to establish suppliers per procurement category and sub category
  • Analysis of supply markets to identify potential suppliers and market trends
  • Identification of internal and external cost drivers in the categories
  • Development of savings opportunities and benchmarking of industry standards and practices to identify quick win opportunities
  • Take part in/leads negotiations and competitive bidding/tenders with potential suppliers in close cooperation with the respective departments to ensure competitive value in terms of quality, price, service and leadtime ratio for the Company.
  • Support Managers in commercially managing their suppliers and leading operation procurement activities in M&S areas.
  • Manage existing supplier base in his/her respective categories. Maintains effective communication with vendors.
  • Collect and provide data to assess supplier performance and communicates it to internal customers and assessed vendors to constantly improve customerbuyervendor relationship and vendor performance.
  • Manage and develop supplier relationships for the procurement category and sub categories, using leading practice procurement tools (such as cost trend analysis, price change analysis and supplier performance reviews) to deliver breakthrough performance in cost, service and quality
  • Support the process of establishing, maintaining, ending contracts related to purchases when applicable. In the contractual process PPO is responsible for the commercial elements of the contracts verified with legal department
  • Ensures all P2P controls/policies/procedures are well understood and deployed by local Procurement teams across the cluster

Who are we looking for - requirements:

  • University degree ( Finance, Business, Engineering) and Masters (MBA/MSC)
  • At least 34 years managerial role in Procurement / Manufacturing Services / Finance preferably in a multinational company operating in FMCG industry
  • Recognized strong people management skills & experience (considering experience in managing remote teams as an asset), mixed environment experience factorymarket
  • International and local project experience is an asset
  • Fluent English and Spanish
  • Have full understanding of Procure to Pay (P2P) processes including spend analysis and contract/supplier management
  • Strong proven ability to build and maintain sustainable partnership with internal stakeholders
