Ruben Alvarez Yebra

Passionate about science and research. I am fascinated by organic chemistry, particularly the synthesis and development of new compounds. My motivation as a scientist is to contribute as much as possible to the progress and improvement of science. I am constantly learning to satisfy my curiosity and gain a deeper, more holistic understanding of science.

I am a restless person, which makes me stand out in my proactive and solution-oriented nature.
I wholeheartedly commit myself to everything I am involved in. 
I believe I have a strong analytical capacity and can contribute valuable ideas to problem-solving.

Up to now, I've been working hard on my PhD at Universitat de Girona desgining and developing new supramolecular receptors with a variety of applications. Before embarking on my doctoral studies I spent 8 months as a laboratory technician at IRB located in the Parc Cientific de Barcelona, developing new catalysts for the hydrogenation of challenging substrates. During my last year as a PhD student, I combined the writing process of the dissertation with a job in the hot-melt adhesive industry.

I graduated myself in Chemistry and obtained a MSc degree in Organic Chemistry, both at the University of Barcelona (UB), under the supervision of Prof. A. Riera and Dr. X. Verdaguer, working in the field of organometallic and homogenous catalysis.
I finally moved to Girona and joined the IQCC and the DIMOCAT group, where I'm currently performing my PhD studies under the supervision of Dr. Agustí Lledó, working in the field of supramolecular chemistry.
