María Sarrasín Ortiz

I have a degree in Biomedicine with a specialisation in Molecular Basis of Cancer, Neurodegenerative and Cardiovascular Diseases. I am currently finishing a one-year internship at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) as a Clinical Operations trainee.
This last year I have had the opportunity to learn about the pharmaceutical industry and its regulatory processes and to get involved in the Clinical Operations department supporting clinical trials in the vaccine area. I have participated in numerous monitoring visits with HCPs, as well as meetings with investigators and internal and external scientific trainings.
During this time, I have been able to get to know the different departments of the pharmaceutical industry and their positions, and I have developed a great interest in the medical department, as it fits perfectly with my academic background, skills and professional vocation.
My great interest in learning and transmitting scientific information, my passion for science, specially for advanced therapies in the field of oncology and the skills I have acquired, both "soft" (communication, proactivity, leadership) and technical (scientific knowledge, Microsoft Office, project management, regulation of the pharmaceutical industry and clinical trials) make me a good candidate for a intership program in the medical department. I could provide my skills, motivation and knowledge and receive a development and learning opportunity, which I am sure will open the doors to achieve my goal, to develop a professional career in the medical department of the pharmaceutical industry.

I have studied Biomedicine, a degree that combines knowledge of medicine and biology, and which focus on molecular bases of diseases as well as new therapies. I have great interest in immunology and advanced therapies such as immunotherapy or gene therapy. In addition, I have a tittle in in Entrepreneurship and Management of Innovation Projects in English, which introduced me to the business field, and I acquired skills such as leadership, communication and teamworking.
