Juan Diego Cuenca

As an executive, board member, lecturer, former cyclist, and infantry officer, I have had a diverse range of experiences that have contributed to my unique perspective and skills. During my decade-long cycling career, I balanced my passion for the sport with my academic pursuits and military service as an officer. After retiring from competition, I channeled my sporting mentality and military diligence into my professional career while continuing to build upon my academic background.

Drawing on my accumulated experience in crises and adverse situations, I have developed a strong track record of creating value in various sectors and business cases. My managerial background spans a range of industries, including Consumer Goods, Corporate Finance, Chemicals, Renewables, Real Estate, Hospitality, Private Equity, and Corporate Banking. These experiences have equipped me with the skills and knowledge to navigate challenges, identify opportunities, and drive growth in any business setting.

With more than two decades of experience in financial and general management in various industries, my professional career has been marked by important challenges and achievements.have 

My career began in the world of corporate banking, where I acquired a deep understanding of the inner workings of the banking business and its various processes, from commercial to risk management and credit monitoring. My commitment to excellence and my thirst for professional development led me to pursue an MBA at IESE Business School. Upon completion, I became CEO of a Private Equity firm and a Real Estate group during the Real Estate and financial crisis of 2007. During this period, I led these companies through unprecedented economic and business challenges, demonstrating my ability to make strategic decisions in complex environments.

After this experience, I entered the world of renewable energies in a Private Equity-backed multinational group, focusing on securing Project Finance loans and selling projects to international investors. Over the years, I advised on corporate transactions and M&A, contributing to the creation of value for the companies involved. More recently, I held the position of CFO in industrial companies in the chemical and FMCG sectors, where my focus on financial management and efficiency played a key role in the growth and success of these organizations.
