Demelza Knight

A recent graduate from University College Cork with an honours degree in Geographical and Archaeological Sciences, I am keen to improve my skill set throughout the varied coursework I have undertaken.  I am a highly adaptable individual with analytical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities, eager to advance with further learning experience and apply my skills to a professional learning environment. Additionally, I am a highly motivated, diligent and enthusiastic employee excited for every new challenge.

          2016 - 2021:

Liss Ard Estate, Skibbereen, Cork, Ireland

• Held the positions of  waitress and bar staff in a fine dining restaurant. 
• Performed effectively as part of a team, maintaining clear communication with all members of staff. 
• Liaised with the kitchen crew regarding customer queries, allergies, dietary needs and special requests. 
• Maintained a calm demeanor at busy restaurant times, providing superior customer support to enhance the client experience.
• Assisted management in staff recruitments annually and participated in staff training.

                                                                                                                                             2020 - 2021: 

University College Cork, Cork, Ireland

• Volunteered as a Student Ambassador for the UCC Outreach Team during their Student Achievement Awards for 2nd Year students. 
• Greeted students, teachers and parents and guided them to the event venue. 
• Answered any questions relating to the awards ceremony or the university itself. 
• Guided large groups of guests across campus to the awards reception. 
• Additionally, I participated in a Focus Group about the university’s new student centred facilities. 

State Examinations Supervisor                         2019 - 2019:

• Logged students into the school system and prepared the appropriate number of exam papers at the correct level (Higher/Ordinary).
• Outlined exam procedure to students. 
• Monitored students throughout the exam duration, ensuring all followed the aforementioned exam procedure. 
• Retrieved exam papers post-exam and carefully returned them to the examiner where they were sealed for State correction. 
• Skills utilized include time management, motivating and organizing students during a high pressure environment.

• BA in Geographical and Archaeological Sciences (2H1)
• Modules taken include: Geography, Archaeology, Computer Science, GIS, ERS, Geomorphology, Food Geography, Pollen Analysis, Preservation, Cultural History and more. 
• The focus of my dissertation was with regard to the demise of Atlantic Salmon in West Cork.
