Christian Altamirano

I am Christian Altamirano, a native English speaker from Los Angeles living in Barcelona (Terrassa), Spain. I currently work as an English Assistant in a primary school and an English Teacher in a local academy. I have multiple years of experience teaching English and working in summer camps. My current occupation as an Auxiliar De Conversacion in Spain has given me an exponential amount of experience and ideas on how to be an outstanding teacher. Each day is an adventure since I absorb various teaching methods from a vast amount of educators every day. From group based learning to individual lessons, my style fits every occasion. I am prepared for any situation to create great learning activities within a very constricted amount of time if needed. In my current occupation I use my university major of filmmaking to create weekly role plays where the students practice, memorize, and act out written plays in front of class and sometimes in front of schools. I also make short films in different classes where students follow directions and perform in front of the camera in English. Teaching has allowed me to grow as a person both intellectually and spiritually. I want to continue my growth and this program seems like a perfect fit for me. With all these attributes, skills, interests, and experience.

My journey as a teacher began while attending my final semester in the
California State of Long Beach, although I have always had a tendency to teach others. For instance, my range of teacher jobs have gone from camp counselor to school teacher. The interest to travel combined with an interest in teaching eventually led me to the TEFL program. I acquired a large wealth of knowledge on how to teach English to non-native speakers. My creative tendencies of being a screenwriter and filmmaker along with detailed instruction from very well disciplined teachers have helped me create great lesson plans that are original, constructive, digestible, entertaining, and intelligent.
