Carlos Maté Jiménez

Carlos Maté is an associate professor accredited by ANECA who has worked for 38.5 years in the School of Engineering (ICAI), Department of Industrial Organization, at Pontifical Comillas University (Madrid, Spain).   

He holds a PhD in Statistics and Operations Research, an MSc in Mathematics, and a BSc in Economics, all of them from Universidad Complutense (Madrid, Spain). 

Currently, he teaches Natural Language Processing (NLP) at UDIT. 

He has published articles in journals such as  
International Journal of Forecasting, Computational Economics, Energy Policy, Neural Processing Letters, Fuzzy Sets and Systems, Statistical Analysis and Data Mining or Journal of Applied Statistics.  

He has delivered talks invited by different universities such as University of California at Riverside, UCLA or Lancaster University.  He has been invited as keynote speaker in the conferences SIDM2015/SIDM2016/SIDM2017/SIDM2019 (The 1st/2nd/3rd/4th International Symposium on Interval Data Modelling: Theory and Applications), organized by Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science (AMSS) and Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, and WISE, Xiamen, China.

Several years of experience teaching at ICAI, Data Analysis, Business Economics, Mathematics, Calculus, Industrial Statistics, Machine Learning, Marketing Research, MATLAB Programming, Operations Research, Quality Control, and EXCEL (ICADE). Over 4,200 students were with me in different rooms. “A legendary teacher at ICAI” (2024Jan, 25; St. Thomas Aquinas ceremony). Two six-year research (Sexenios) periods were granted by ANECA. Key papers in outstanding research journals such as Computational Economics (2011), Energy Policy (2010), Eng. Applic. of Artificial Intelligence (2021), Int. Journal of Forecasting (2009), Journal of Appl. Stat. (2000), Neural Processing Letters (2007), and Knowledge-Based Systems (2022).
