The Head of inside sales, leads a global team of Sales Development Representatives, playing a critical role in the successful onboarding, training and development of new staff, and providing ongoing focused coaching, mentoring and training while helping the organization achieve our new customer acquisition and revenue growth objectives.
- Provide line management support to Sales Development team members including focused coaching, development training, providing realtime consistent feedback to improve productivity and skills and leverage tools
- Interview and hire strong talent for the Sales Development team
- Support onboarding and training for all new Sales Development team members
- Partner with Commercial Leadership to execute strategic initiatives and lead generation tactics to drive pipeline.
- Partner with Sales Team Leaders to maintain effective partnerships between Sales Development and Sales Teams
- Manage team performance to ensure individual and team goals are achieved and provide feedback on action plans and development opportunities
- Drive sales enablement improvements to ensure the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of Sales Development practices and processes leading to optimum organizational performance
- Assist with the writing/creating and reviewing of team training and reference guides including playbooks and ensure relevance to individual regions & territories
- Lead team meetings and training
- Work with Commercial Teams & Leadership to identify and recommend process improvements and roll out new initiatives
- Provide analytics and forecasting reports to Commercial Leadership Partners
- Support and train Sales Development Account Managers with conference lead responsibilities
- Partner with Marketing on campaigns and events
- Ensure SalesForce compliance within the team
- Attend trades shows and other events as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Life Sciences or related discipline
- Prior inside sales/business development experience, preferably at a CRO or other vendor within the clinical trials industry
- Strong experience in developing new business, lead nurturing and qualification, prospecting and appointment setting
- Demeonstrated management or leadership experience, preferably managing sales development/Inside Sales Team
- Understand policies and procedures, leadership principles, possesses excellent time management and project management skills and communicate effectively
- CRO/pharmaceutical industry experience preferred including knowledge of Phase I-IV clinical development
- Experience with Salesforce or other CRM and sales automation tools
