  • Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) is the leading supercomputing center in Spain. It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, and is a hosting member of the PRACE European distributed supercomputing infrastructure. The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies in order to facilitate scientific progress. BSC combines HPC service provision and R&D into both computer and computational science (life, earth and engineering sciences) under one roof, and currently has over 770 staff from 55 countries.

    Context And Mission
  • The High-Performance Artificial Intelligence research group is growing, attracting both young talent and resources. This growth requires a more substantial structure in which researchers with experience take responsibility and proaction in the group's growth. This position is intended to fit a middlehigh position, with several students and developers to manage and lead research and development.
    Key Duties
  • Leading projects related to Ethical, Legal, SocioEconomical and Cultural aspects of Artificial Intelligence (ELSEC-AI), mostly applied to fields of particular interest to the BSC.
  • Guiding and developing research lines for the group within ELSEC-AI.
  • Handling part of the relations between different BCS groups and with groups and institutions (both public and private) of interest to the Social Link Analytics research group.
  • Managing students in an efficient work environment.
  • Representing the group and BSC in different fora.

Requirements:


  • Education
  • PhD in Artificial Intelligence or related fields, such as Computer Science, Mathematics or Physics.
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
  • Frontend and backend development 35 years
  • Provable research experience of at least five years after completing a PhD.
  • Experience in writing and managing research proposals and research projects at an international standard for 35 years.
  • Experience developing and leading multidisciplinary and multistakeholder projects related to the ELSEC-AI.
  • Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
  • Experience with Ethic Committees and AI Policy.
  • Assessment of Experience assessing Digital and AI-Based technologies.
  • Experience developing and assessing graduate and postgraduate AI courses, curricula and other educational projects or resources.
  • Teaching experience at graduate and postgraduate level
  • Competences
  • The leadership of groups. Strong leadership skills.
  • English fluent and Spanish Fluent. Strong communication skills inside and outside academic environments. Other Languages will be considered as a merit.
  • Experience organising and coordinating scientific events.
  • Experience evaluating the quality and relevance of scientific work.

Conditions

  • The position will be located at BSC within the Computer Sciences Department
