Semillas Fitó is looking for a Genomics & Data Analysis Manager to be located in our Biotech Center at Cabrera de Mar, Barcelona, Spain.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of Genomics Researchers and the Genotyping Lab Manager.
  • Support, train, and coach the team with advice on project management and optimal scientific or technical decisions.
  • Coordinate and support the implementation of new genotyping or sequencing platforms and bioinformatics tools.
  • Manage resources effectively, adjusting budget for team operations and recommend resource allocation to reach project and process timelines.
  • Perform scouting activities for novel tools and technologies in genomics.
  • Analyze, with the breeding team, the needs for new genomic tools to accelerate and improve the process of variety creation.
  • Train and support the breeding team on the use of new genomic tools and contribute to the development of decisionsupport strategies for breeding.
  • Ensure that all genomics research deliverables and related efforts follow FTO and IP valuation processes.
  • Participate in the internal Strategic Breeding and Development meetings, and international scientific congresses to stay up to date with the trends in the new genomics tools and breeding needs.

Valuable:

  • Experience in managing a scientific and/or technical team.
  • Experience in the seed / plant breeding sector.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in bioinformatics and computational biology, sequencing, biostatistics, and experimental design.
  • Spanish language fluent will be a plus.

Requirements:


Education and Experience Required:

  • Ph.
D. in the fields of Genomics, Genetics, Molecular Biology or Bioinformatics.

  • Good understanding & knowledge in experimental design and in quantitative genetics (QTL mapping, GWAS, genomic prediction, etc ) and exploration of genomic and phenotypic datasets.
  • Experience in NGS sequence analyses and functional genomics.
  • English as a working language (written and verbal is required).
