Degree in electrical engineering

Proven experience (+2 years) in the construction or operation of HV substations, HV power lines or similar.
Experience managing vendors and contracts.
Knowledge of safety requirements and mitigation measures in HV substation facilities.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a High Voltage (HV) Substation Team Leader to join our expanding Data Center (DC) Cloud region.

High Voltage Sub-station Team Leader is the technical specialist that will program operations and maintenance of our HV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Substations.

You will own the operations and maintenance contract of three HV GIS substations, ensuring planned and corrective maintenance execution as per AWS standards and leading the team of AWS employees and trusted vendors in charge of the availability and reliability of these facilities to help offer Amazon customers better value to meet or exceed defined service levels of Data Center Engineering Operations.

Key job responsibilities

Lead the operation and maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment within the HV GIS Substation. This equipment supports missioncritical servers and must maintain better than 99.999% uptime.
Serve as escalation point for troubleshooting and monitoring the substation systems to resolve incidents/events, problems, changes and all other aspects of the Data Center support from engineering point of view.
Guide and provide training to the data center engineering operations staff to help them ingest the HV substation equipment within the scope of their role.

A day in the life

Your day will start in any of the AWS data centers in the Aragón region and you will attend the operations team daily meeting to provide information about the HV substation status and planned work for the week.

You will contact the site facility managers to check interfaces between the HV substation scope of work and the data center planned activities.

You will host regular meetings with the HV contractor to ensure their alignment with the AWS maintenance plan and quality standards.

You may be required to go to the field to review critical work occurring in the substations. You will report KPIs to higher management and write narratives about their operating status.
