This position is within the Enterprise Solutions Service, Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT/ESS) in Valencia, Spain. The incumbent reports to an Information Systems Officer within OICT/ESS.


Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the Information Systems Officer and general supervision of the Enterprise Solutions Service Chief, the incumbent will perform the following functions:

  • Drafts correspondence and communications, including work plan revisions and other related issues, as well as prepares unit contributions for a variety of periodic reports.
  • Keeps abreast of developments in the field; performs benchmarking and proposes new acquisitions.
  • Provides guidance to new/junior staff.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
A university degree in computer science, information technology or a relevant field is desirable.
A recognized first-level university degree may be accepted in lieu of two years of required experience.

Job - Specific Qualification

Work Experience

A minimum of seven years (or five years if graduated with a bachelor's degree or higher) of experience in information systems analysis and programming, software development, systems administration and maintenance is required.

Four years of experience using JavaScript and/or TypeScript to develop complex web interfaces is required.

Three years of experience with git, DevOps processes and associated scripting languages (Python, PowerShell and/or shell scripting) is required.

Experience with data migrations, data analysis and reporting using PowerBI is required.

Experience with Azure Serverless Computing (Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, App Insights) is desirable.

Experience working on PRINCE2 Agile managed projects and PRINCE2 certification is desirable.

Experience with C# and with REST backend services is desirable.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language, particularly Spanish, is an advantage.

Must have passed the United Nations Global General Service Test (GGST) at Headquarters or an equivalent locally-administered test at Offices Away from Headquarters.
