  • Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) is the leading supercomputing center in Spain. It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, and is a hosting member of the PRACE European distributed supercomputing infrastructure. The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies in order to facilitate scientific progress. BSC combines HPC service provision and R&D into both computer and computational science (life, earth and engineering sciences) under one roof, and currently has over 770 staff from 55 countries.

    Context And Mission
  • The role of this position is to focus on the goals of the project and help bring the vision to life by guiding the development team by defining goals, interacting with stakeholders and collaborators, and helping keep the team task schedule running.
  • The person filling this position will keep scheduled meetings with external collaborators to manage and supervise their progress, and synch with the internal team and the project manager to ensure the project runs as planned.
  • This position will collaborate with the researchers by providing social science input to the developments, filling in the role of end users and advocating for their needs.
    Key Duties
  • Track and manage the development and schedule of the project
  • Track and manage the progress of external collaborators through fixed scheduled meetings
  • Track and manage the progress of the internal development team, through their managers or directly
  • Research on computational methods applied to social sciences, in particular for the urban environment
  • Attend technical meetings, and produce reports for milestones and deliverables of the project.
  • Lead social research (activities, writing papers) within the group

Requirements:


  • Education
  • PhD in Computational Social Sciences
  • We will value programming experience, and knowledge or experience in ethical guidelines for technology development
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
  • Data analysis.
  • Social sciences (preferably political, economics, or sociology)
  • We will value especially experience or knowledge of computational methods applied to social sciences
  • Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Spanish.
  • Competences
  • Strong initiative to work on a challenging multidisciplinary innovation project involving talking to people in many fields.
  • Good communication skills (manuals, white papers, reports).

  • The position will be located at BSC within the CASE Department

  • Duration: Openended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration
