**Ready to join one of our Graduate Programmes in Spain?
AIRBUS offers more than 40 vacancies for our full time graduate programme in Spain - #
DISCOVER II 2023/2024:

  • Starting date Oct 2nd 2023.
We are looking for recent graduates from
different disciplines interested in developing their professional career in the aeronautical sector.

What does DISCOVER consist of?
The current context demands different ways of looking, thinking and relating.

We are:

  • A digital society looking for people who are comfortable in technical environments.
  • A business with many different interests and activities that require many unique skills.
  • A dynamic business in transition to a hybrid model both in thought and in processes.

Navigating this reality requires people who want to start their professional career in the aeronautical sector, combining effective and sustainable technical and personal skills to contribute to our challenges and achieve our goals.

Together with Camilo José Cela University, Airbus has developed
an exclusive program (DISCOVER) designed for those interested in the best training in new areas of knowledge essential to be able to develop as professionals of the future.

You will have the opportunity to study a
Master , organized in three training blocks, that will allow you to
DISCOVER the skills most in demand today.

It will be combined
with an 11 month internship at Airbus in an area related to your degree, where you can learn and complete your academic background.

The start of the internship will be in early Oct 2023, and will last 11 months (August disabled for all purposes).

It is a full-time experience (40h/week), in which you will receive an attractive study grant.

Internship Description
System General Department is responsible for the system and structure development of the whole civil Airbus projects.

Our department is a competence reference for the company with a big pool of engineer specialists required by the rest of engineering, manufacturing, program, quality areas to ensure the right delivery of the systems and structural components as well as in service fleet support.

Student Main tasks to develop
For Spain perimeter we will focus on the following ones:

  • EMH / Electromagnetics Hazards and Lightning and Electrostatic protection
  • Safety and Reliability of the A/C
  • Software quality assurance of systems / equipments
  • Configuration Management (ensure the right process and traceability for all the modifications carried out in each aircraft delivered)

  • Manufacturing Engineering (Industrialization

  • Provide engineering assessment & monitor in the system development to ensure the right maturity at the delivery of the aircraft and in service operation).
A more detailed description of the tasks to be involved within the department of Electromagnetic Hazards (EMH):

  • you will sketch the sizing of the MBN (Metallic Bonding Network). (Lightning current flow and spurious fault current due to equipment failure)
  • As the A/C is made of Carbon material (CFRP), a bonding network is needed. This bonding network has several functions, the most important being a path for fault currents.
  • Sizing the MBN requires a knowledge of the electrical loads of the A/C, but also how the electrical protection of generators works.
  • In this case you will make use of multiphysics: electrical equations to calculate the power that needs to be dissipated and thermal equations for ensuring the CFRP is not damaged when dissipating that power.
  • You may also participate in tests to validate the developed model with the opportunity to improve it.

The main knowledge that the apprentice will take can be summarized:

  • Basic knowledge of the structural components of the different aircraft parts. More in depth knowledge will be tail cone, wing and belly fairing.
  • Understand the main architecture of the systems and its functions / interfaces (mainly Electric generation, external lights of the a/c, Bleed & pneumatic and inertization of the fuel tanks).
  • Engineering organization and technical interfaces with other areas (i.e. chief engineering, manufacturing & quality, in service or maintenance areas)

Projects / areas of the practice

Main programs will be:
A350; Single aisle; Long Range; Wide body; Future projects

Apprentice will be provided with access to documentation related to system general disciplines, as well as specific tools that are required for analysis & modeling for deliverables that department need to compile

Required skills

  • Aeronautical Engineering Degree
  • Knowledge on aircraft structural components (aeronautical parts and architecture) and materials
  • Aircraft systems
  • Modeling tools such as Mathlab or Mathematica and graphic CATIA or other 3d model.
  • Advanced level of English and Spanish (C1 level).
  • Good communication skills, team work, learning orientation and proactive attitude

Why should you apply?

  • Foster your professional d
