Context And Mission
The Computational Biology group, led by ICREA professor Alfonso Valencia, is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to work in the context of structural bioinformatics.
VEIS project (expedient number 001P has been cofinanced a 50% with ,38€ by the European Union European Regional Development Fund within the Catalonian Operative Programme FEDER, with the Generalitat de Catalunya Support.
Key Duties
Perform sequencebased analysis of complex proteins to improve the understanding of important hostpathogen proteinprotein interactions.
Investigate proteinprotein interaction networks in different organisms using coevolutionbased approaches.
Preparation and presentation of scientific articles.
Collaborate in the preparation and presentation of scientific projects.
Establish and maintain collaborations with national and international researchers.

Requirements:

Education
PhD in a topic related to structural bioinformatics (or equivalent).
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
Experience in protein sequence/structure analysis.
Knowledge of protein interaction prediction methods applied to protein families.
Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
Knowledge and experience in structural analysis (pymol, VMD, quimera).
Knowledge and experience in phylogenetics
Programming: Python, R.
Fluency in spoken and written English.
Competences
Capacity to explore new research lines.
Good communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work both independently and within a team.

Conditions

The position will be located at BSC within the Life Sciences Department

Duration: Openended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration
