    Context And Mission
  • The Computational Biology group, led by ICREA professor Alfonso Valencia, is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to work in the context of structural bioinformatics.
  • VEIS project (expedient number 001P has been cofinanced a 50% with ,38€ by the European Union European Regional Development Fund within the Catalonian Operative Programme FEDER, with the Generalitat de Catalunya Support.
    Key Duties
  • Perform sequencebased analysis of complex proteins to improve the understanding of important hostpathogen proteinprotein interactions.
  • Investigate proteinprotein interaction networks in different organisms using coevolutionbased approaches.
  • Preparation and presentation of scientific articles.
  • Collaborate in the preparation and presentation of scientific projects.
  • Establish and maintain collaborations with national and international researchers.

Requirements:


  • Education
  • PhD in a topic related to structural bioinformatics (or equivalent).
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
  • Experience in protein sequence/structure analysis.
  • Knowledge of protein interaction prediction methods applied to protein families.
  • Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
  • Knowledge and experience in structural analysis (pymol, VMD, quimera).
  • Knowledge and experience in phylogenetics
  • Programming: Python, R.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Competences
  • Capacity to explore new research lines.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team.

Conditions

  • The position will be located at BSC within the Life Sciences Department
