LABORATORY GROUP _(Quantum enhanced gyroscopes with optically levitated particles)_****Materials Physics Center (Donostia / San Sebastián)
The Quantum Nanophotonics Laboratory at the Centro de Física de Materiales - Materials
Physics Center is offering a postdoctoral position (1+1 years) to work with Prof. Gabriel
Molina-Terriza developing methods to control and measure the rotation of optically levitated
control and measure the rotation of the particle and will develop novel quantum squeezed
light sources to interact with the rotating paprticle. This project is a collaboration with the
groups of Dr. Mikel Sanz (BCAM) and Prof. Iñigo Eguskiza (UPV/EHU). The work will involve
developing state-of-the-art electronics and quantum optics instrumentation.

The positions will be funded by MCIN and by the European Union NextGenerationEU/PRTR

  • C17.I1, as well as by IKUR Strategy under the collaboration agreement between Ikerbasque
Foundation and DIPC on behalf of the Department of Education of the Basque Government.

Center. The salary will be of 35.650,44 euros during the first year before taxes.

The Quantum Nanophotonics Laboratory Group at the Center of Materials Physics
addresses fundamental research on quantum technologies. Current research topics in the
group include optical trapping and levitation, in particular for the development of novel
inertial quantum sensors. We also work on other quantum technologies, such as the
quantum control of the nuclear and electronic spins in Nitrogen Vacancy centres (NVs) in
photonics, using entangled photon sources and quantum squeezed light. For more

Materials Science or related disciplines. Expertise and demonstrated hands-on-experience
in optics, FPGAs and other data acquisition instrumentation will be highly appreciated for
this particular position. Knowledge in programming languages will be positively evaluated.
