Job Description:

Position Purpose


As an IT Business Analyst, you will be responsible for understanding business requirements and processes and identifying business technology and/or process & information opportunities.

You will be working with business and IT managers to develop, implement and maintain solutions that deliver business value within agreed timelines and budgets.

Major / Key Accountabilities

  • Establishing the contribution that technology can make to business objectives using a range of techniques such as eliciting and documenting requirements with stakeholders, conducting feasibility studies, producing business models, preparing business cases, usability requirements analysis and usability evaluation.
  • Identifying and obtaining agreement on the requirements/features which will be most beneficial to the business.
  • Ensuring compliance with agreed best practices.
  • Identifying and raising issues impacting the execution of strategic / operational / project plans.
  • Understanding overall Enterprise Architecture and assess the degree of conformance of existing and new business processes.
  • Overseeing implementation of solutions.
  • Influencing team and specialist peers internally, customers at account level, and suppliers.
  • Making decisions that influence the success of projects and team objectives.
  • Demonstrating an analytical and systematic approach to problemsolving.
  • Communicating fluently orally and in writing, presenting complex technical information to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Facilitating collaboration between stakeholders.
  • Planning, scheduling, and monitoring work to meet time and quality targets.
  • Appreciating the wider field of information systems, their use in relevant employment areas, and how they relate to business activities.

Qualifications:


  • Essential_
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or related field, Masters preferred or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Desirable_
  • Project Management certification, such as PMP, CAPM or PRINCE
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
Experience

  • Experience within an IT focussed role.
  • Experience of the project lifecycle.
  • Proven success in improving the customer experience.
  • Experience working within a matrix structure.
Skills and knowledge

Stakeholder Relationship Management

  • Collects and uses feedback from customers and stakeholders to help measure effectiveness of stakeholder management.
  • Helps develop and enhance customer and stakeholder relationships.
Business Process Testing

  • Specifies and develops test scenarios to test that new/updated processes deliver improved ways of working for the end user at the same time as delivering efficiencies and planned business benefits.
  • Records and analyses test results, and report any unexpected or unsatisfactory outcomes.
  • Uses test plans and outcomes to specify user instructions.
Business Analysis

  • Investigates operational requirements, problems, and opportunities, seeking effective business solutions through improvements in automated and nonautomated components of new or changed processes.
  • Assists in the analysis of stakeholder objectives, and the underlying issues arising from investigations into business requirements and problems, and identifies options for consideration.
  • Identifies potential benefits, and available options for consideration. Works with clients/users in defining acceptance tests.
Requirements Definition and Management

  • Facilitates scoping and business prioritysetting for change initiatives of medium size and complexity.
  • Contributes to selection of the most appropriate means of representing business requirements in the context of a specific change initiative, ensuring traceability back to source.
  • Discovers and analyses requirements for fitness for purpose as well as adherence to business objectives and consistency, challenging positively as appropriate.
