Plant Project Manager based in either Cornella (Spain), Hersham (UK) or Rotterdam-Botlek (The Netherlands), or Kedzierzyn (Poland).
What is the role

As a Project Manager you are member of Operations Project Group, IG Europe and responsible for executing assigned projects and achieving project goals in support of the business areas.


  • You will provides leadership for the development, execution and control of assigned proposals and projects with the ultimate goal of achieving project completion on time, within budgets, to the satisfaction of the customer, and at acceptable levels of quality without compromising safety or reliability. Project scopes of supply may vary widely, but will generally include equipment supply, engineering design, construction, and startup services. The projects assigned to this position are typically the largest capital value and most complex that the group execute.
  • Typical project activities include: technical liaison to the business area, the Customer's single point of contact for communication and resolution of project issues, review and interpretation of customer RFQs, accountable for the definition of scope of supply and preparation of customer proposals, resource planning, defining and leading a project team, system design and specification, equipment procurement, equipment fabrication, drawing packages, value engineering, scope of supply documentation, contractor procurement, construction procurement and management, system commissioning and startup, and project status and close out reports, etc.
  • Additional activities will be to:
  • Play a dual role as project development and project execution manager.
  • Execute projects in any European country as required and agreed.
  • Have responsibility for leading a project team in defining and completing an agreed upon scope of supply. This includes, as required by the specific project, performing and/or the coordination of resources to complete the design, procurement fabrication, installation, startup and commissioning tasks.
  • Assume ownership of the project safety, budget, schedule, and technical quality to achieve the project and business objectives established at the start of the project. A typical project team consists of a matrixed organization and may also include external contractors and consultants.
  • Work closely with the business area and line management to develop the opportunity into a welldefined estimate that meets the requirements of the scope of supply. Provide technical point of contact to the business area for assigned projects.
  • Ensure that proposals and projects comply with company standards and procedures.
  • Report to management and stakeholders on project status
  • Coach and Mentor junior Project Engineers and Graduates

What you will bring
Project management experience of executing projects on brown field sites with a sharp focus on costs, schedule, safety and quality.- You will have a proactive approach to change and a structured approach to change management, both customer driven and project variations and the ability of working within a team framework with other internal disciplines (e.g. accounting, purchasing, law department, commercial groups, etc.), and with external contacts (e.g. customers, contractors, legal entities, equipment vendors, etc.)

  • Besides this, you'll have:
  • Knowledge of IG Supply Chain and Operations engineering and/or GEMTE work processes.
  • 10+ years Project Management experience.
  • Broad general technical knowledge and principles, i.e. Process, Machinery, Electrical, PICS. Seasoned professional, technically astute.
  • Leadership in safety, cost, scope definition and execution
  • Adequate and timely coordination for members of the project to meet the project's goals.
  • Ability to provide a mature and steady presence to coordinate the project team.
  • Ability to distinguish between the contractual needs and desires of the customer to manage and resolve scope issues that may arise.
  • Skills for negotiating, resolving differences, and developing consensus to secure win/win agreements.
  • Ability to attain, share and maintain appropriate knowledge and skills within the group.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Good interpersonal, organizing and coordinating skills.
  • Coaching and development skills.
  • Ability to communicate and work cross functio
