Lead controls programmer
Overview


As part of the Celestica team, you are a Controls Engineer/ Programmer that supports the latest technology automation in a fast paced electronics industry.

As a Controls Engineer/Programmer you bring experience in controls concepts, programming and troubleshooting custom automation systems.

With this knowledge you are comfortable working in a team environment to maintain and troubleshoot world-class automation equipment.

In this role, you will report to Engineering Manager. This position is based on Valencia Spain.

Technical

  • Experience designing and implementing controls software solutions
  • Experience programming automation controllers, user interface (GUI) for a custom automation lines
  • Knowledge of Beckhoff control systems is mandatory
  • Proficient in programming in TwinCat environment
  • Must have knowledge of IEC 61131 programming standard
  • Knowledge of various communication protocols commonly used with PC based controls
  • Ability to read technical documentation, interpret electrical schematics for troubleshooting purposes
  • Knowledge of safety controls systems, safety devices is required
  • Familiarity with Safety PLCs
  • Experience programming interface modules to automation subsystems such as robots, servo drives, presses, smart torque controllers, dispense equipment etc.
  • Analysis of inputs and User Requirements in order to determine feasibility of possible improvements of controls systems meeting specifications
  • Familiarity with cycle time analysis and optimization methods
  • Ability to create and maintain documentation regarding controls software revisions

Responsibilities:


  • Understanding of automation line overall controls architecture
  • Line performance analysis and troubleshooting
  • Understanding GUI/HMI authorization levels and recipes
  • Responsibilities include thorough understanding of current controls systems and software interface to Celestica MES
  • Responsibilities include analyzing controls systems deeficencies and providing proposals for improvements to various teams
  • Creating and maintaining documentation regarding controls software revisions
  • Maintaining integrity of Safety PLC/safety critical functions

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience as a Controls Programmer with strong background in automation industry

Work environment

  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Assist in preparing controls documentation
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety rules and procedures
  • Ability to work in a team environment and actively participate in group meetings safely
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned
  • Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule
  • Ensure scheduled milestones are met
Education

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Electrical Engineering/Software engineering/ Robotics Automation Technology
Experience

  • Minimum 7 years in automation industry in controls programmer role
Language

  • Fluent in English
