Job Description Summary:

The mission of the installation engineering team is to develop installation process and tools to achieve the industry's safest, most efficient, and most economical installation of onshore wind turbines.


The installation engineering Leader will be responsible for leading a global engineering team to deliver installation capability on New Unit NPI and enable Design for installation efforts.

They will focus on increasing capabilities in the installation space that increase safety, reduce contractual costs, and align to the standard operating procedure for projects.

They will work a matrix of various cross functional teams to meet these deliverables - Repair & Installation Systems, New Unit ENG & Product Segments, Global Technical Operations, PMO, SVC Product Line, Regional FRO, and Field Services.


Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Manage a global engineering team to deliver reliable and safe installation capability on New Unit NPIs
  • Work strategically with Product Line, Engineering Leaders, Field Services, Region Growth Leaders and Commercial to design and develop New Products, procedures, and processes to reduce New Unit NPI lifecycle cost
  • Ensure safety, compliance and integrity are engrained in our work practices in the office and in the field
  • Provide technical direction, leadership & mentorship to team members, both domestic and global
  • Build pipeline of talented systems thinkers who enjoy problem solving and delivering innovative, safe, and productive solutions for repair capabilities
  • Cultivate a positive team culture for safety, continuous improvement, hands on learning, prototyping, deeper design expertise & total design ownership
  • Demonstrate accountability for functional and business objectives. Participate in operations planning (SII/Op Plan) and growth initiatives. Manage the engineering budget for the team.
  • Build strong crosssegment and crossfunctional engagement within the New Unit Engineering Segments, Global Technical Operations, Regions, FRO, & Supply Chain teams to better prioritize workstreams & share best practices
  • Identify, create, document, and implement Engineering Excellence improvements for the team with a strong continuous improvement mindset.
  • Maintain broad awareness of efforts within the Repair & Installation Systems Engineering team to assure lessons learned and responsiveness to customer/program needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Civil or equivalent)
  • 5 or more years experience, including strong demonstration of technical and leadership skills
  • 2 or more years experience in the wind industry

Eligibility requirements
Ability and willingness to climb wind turbines and work at heights

  • Technical project management experience
