We're hiring a Firmware (FPGA) Engineer in Madrid, Spain.

MAIN TASKS
He/she analyzes customer needs and determines firmware system requirements, recommends embedded platforms and drives implementation of the intended functionality.

He/she develops maintenance and testing procedures for the firmware releases.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the firmware development of new features and products (from feasibility studies and POCs up to released products)
  • Deliver as planned an integral firmware solution (specification, design, implementation, testing)
  • Develop and conduct necessary tests for validation/qualification of (sub)systems
  • Support production in testbench development
  • Maintain the existing firmware architecture throughout entire product lifecycle
  • Participate to the continuous improvement activities of company's products and services
  • Perform code and design reviews, root cause analyses and implement best practices
  • Provide technical support to customers and internal departments

SPECIFIC SKILLS

  • Experience with several mainstreams FPGA and DSP design platforms: Altera, Xilinx, Lattice, Texas Instruments, Motorola
  • Handson experience in digital design (Verilog, VHDL) and embedded code development (C, C++)
  • Experience with simulation tools (ModelSim, MentorGraphics) and testbench platforms
  • Experience with DMA and memory management (FIFO, DRAM)
  • Experience in programming communication interfaces (I2C, SPI, AXI) and other peripherals
  • Skills in automated testing and testbench platforms (GoogleTest, LabView)
  • Version control (Git), linting tools, scripting skills and ticket tracking (Jira)

TRANSVERSAL SKILLS

  • Ability to work in an international environment and remote teams
  • Pragmatic and results oriented
  • Willing to learn new technologies and work on different tasks
  • Comfortable with troubleshooting and root cause analyses
  • Good written and verbal communication (EN, ES) and presentation skills

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • BSc. or MSc. in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or equivalent successful experience in a similar role
  • Experience 35 years in development of electronic firmware design within an industrial company
