The Assistant Director, ATM Infrastructure will be a member of the European Regional Operations, Safety and Security Operations (OSS) team and report to Head ATM Infrastructure, OSS.

The incumbent will have a specific focus on advocating the development and implementation of strategies to improve the safety, capacity, and sustainability of European airspace and associated infrastructure.

Airspace and ATM infrastructure in Europe are increasingly becoming a bottleneck in the expansion of air transport connectivity. The focus on Aviation's environmental impact hastens the need to find sustainability both at policy and operational levels.

Every flight that cannot be accommodated due to airspace and ATM constraints is a lost opportunity for IATA members, the impacts of which filter throughout the economy and society.

This role will advocate stakeholders at national state and European levels to develop appropriate strategies and action plans to modernize European airspace, driving sustainable solutions supporting ATM infrastructure.

The role will extend the target stakeholder audience beyond traditional actors to include non-air transport sectors reliant on air connectivity.


Responsibilities:

Develop and sustain collaborative relationships with senior air transport leaders and policy makers within government, service providers and European intuitions;
Advocate with clarity and precision the need for European airspace modernization, including implementation of the Single European Sky.

Develop and advocate airline priorities and IATA positions to ensure progress towards airspace modernization is aligned with IATA member interests;
Manage the airspace modernization advocacy activities across multiple States and at European level in accordance with IATA's project management methodologies;
Monitor and report progress on obtaining the desired business and environmental benefits from delivering airspace modernization;
Manage internal IATA resources assigned when applicable;
Identify and manage the need/ opportunity for third-party studies and/or analysis to assist in generating advocacy materials and messages.


Qualifications:

Minimum 10 years' experience leading advocacy in diverse multi-stakeholder environments preferably within the air transport sector;
Experience in international multicultural environments;
Excellent communication skills;
Experience leading large scale, multistakeholder projects, with a focus on business implementation;
High level of organizational and planning skills including project management experience;
Influencing and negotiation skills;
Good negotiation skills;
A self-starter approach with ability to proactively engage with stakeholders and progress work goals;
High level of innovation skills, capable of participating in the definition of best practices, new solutions or methodologies;
Experience in delivering clear presentations and preparing reports based on technical merits and facts;
Fluent in both written and spoken English. Knowledge of French and German would be an asset;
Good knowledge of IATA.
