Facebook wants to be the best alternative to LinkedIn

Facebook wants to be the best alternative to LinkedIn. Facebook wants to become the only platform you spend your time on. It swallowed Instagram, it swallowed WhatsApp, it’s strangling Twitter and it’s trying to strangle Snapchat. During the past year Facebook has gone into overdrive, blatantly, systematically and often successfully, cloning Snapchat's core features. Facebook has a voracious hunger. LinkedIn is next. (Of course, I am not talking about being bought). This is my prediction.

Facebook was 100% for friends and LinkedIn was 100% for business. That line has started to fade. It's normal. We are humans and we do business with people we like. People do business with people. People hire people - not resumes. 

The foundation of beBee is an acceptance that we are people with passions and some of those passions are in our personal life, and some are in our professional, so we can create a hive for a conversation about any topic. FB is a cespol of right wing crackpots and disinformation and LinkedIn allows all sort of scammers and the r=same right wing crackpots and if in both sites, if you peak out they suspend posting privileges or summarily expelled yuo .beBee, well not many leaders want to be a bee and the distribution sucks. Well, in all fairness, FB tried to do that but failed. Perhaps it's because LI ended up being bought by Microsoft, or maybe it ended up being more like FB. Or maybe it's because FB betrayed its users by selling all their PII to advertising companies, blocking some of its content creators for ambiguous reasons, and for being out of touch with reality (lately quite literally with the development of an artificial reality that wants its users to migrate to). So, perhaps it was a combination of unexpected competition and sheer incompetence that FB failed and hopefully will eventually vanish altogether from the map of social media. One can only hope that beBee will fill that vacuum, at least partly…

Jaja, I am not worried, nor did I misunderstand the meaning of your intent. Social media tools can easily become double blade. However for tech savvy like me we know our ways around to get users life easier, thanks to opensource community. I help government agencies and National TV broadcasters in the educative mission to vulgarize software and web based technologies, including mobiles. The famous 3-5 minutes format showcase. FB can be tamed.lol

Facebook isn't a for, it is if I may say so, full of friends waiting for us to tell them. Story + a call to action. Facebook is full of friends with no affinities, now beBee Affinity database can fin it's way to build relationships up to....friendship.
Innovations take time. Give it to the team and let's keep the faith and our user's loyalty. With the human short memory attention span, re-branding and re-building on specific segments of population is still possible. Now we all hope that future enhancement will not be a catch up after competition's features. That would be a hell of disappointement and a fall back to aficionados. Continued PART 4 9) Some critical issues I believe beBee needs to address. - From my understanding, the beBee userbase has not rissen markedly in the year compared to the first years. - Speed of incremental improvements needs to increase. - Actions not vague or unkept promises are required. - Specifically, Live Buzz, to my experience has not improved sufficiently since its release a year ago. -Live Buzz would be my prefered means tlar to Snivartphone, like MIr on my phone's keypad. - video definition leaves a lot to be desired. - still no zoom which Snapchat has. - no download of the produced video to repurpose on phone or computer. - On Snapchat I created Memories - My Story in real time, saved it to Gallery on my phone and could then Tweet it, as well as upload it to my YouTube channel. - ALL from my phone, wherever I was. - I cannot do this on beBee - Live Buzz content can't be viewed by a non beBee member. PART 1 1) I agree with much of the sentiments of both the article and the commentstors below. 2) I LOVE beBee and the beBee community and the supportive nature within it. 3) I have worked in the social media aspect with a number of start-ups here in Australia and 1 mature company as an investor of TIME my NETWORK resources but NOT MONEY, as well as a "brand ambassador" for them. Some have failed, others have flatlined. 4) Like the comentators below I want beBee to SUCCEED. I don't count myself an expert on the article's subject matter or the comments I share below. However, I have growing concerns for the ongoing viability of beBee competing with Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Snapchat and more to the point, NEW DISRUPTIVE platforms that will no doubt come along. (Abraham Lincoln's success, in part was NOT to have "yes men" surround him. I trust Juan Imaz and Javier \ud83d\udc1d beBee have similar attributes and will take my points as constructive and in the BEST interests of beBee.) 5) Like LI, FB, TW, SC and INST, beBee is a business. It has to provide VALUE to its shareholders, investors (which includes brand ambassadors - investing time and resources), advertisers and members - who are also investing their time and resources. You state facebook will want to become the platform alternative to linkedin - but that will not work. The underlying structure will not be compatible. Bebee is not, for many of us, an alternative to linkedin, but something complementary. Many of the most passionate writers on linkedin have found a new avenue, one which is almost a secret.. However linkedin and bebee have probably the strongest interplay - and it is gaining strength. At the moment Linkedin is the huge atrium and bebee iscthe cool bar in the cellar, something for people to discover with joy.

beBee as a community and as an affinity networking platform, couldn't be described better Javier \ud83d\udc1d beBee. This buzz clearly states each and every aspect of why beBee stands out in the sea of social media networking platforms. I for one, have experienced the difference in professional networking when it comes to LinkedIn and beBee. LinkedIn feels formal and while it is a professional networking platform, conversations with even childhood classmates feel formal. beBee on the other hand lets us connect with professionals whom we have met over the platform itself and manage to strike conversations, so easily. Thanks to the amazing producers and buzzes, and now live buzzes, it feels easy to connect to other bees (instead of 'connections') and have meaningful engagements. Javier, You are singing to the choir but it is a tune that we all know and like. I'm finding beBee a welcome relief to all the other social media sites simply because it is about the whole person, Where else can you find someone like Paul C who provides technology updates, hilarious personal notes and gourmet recipes. Or how about Stephan and his building of community on top of beBee. I'm partial to Jim Murray as well. And Phil just keeps bringing logic to bear on all kinds of discussions. Then there is Ali Anani who knows how to ignite a discussion better than most. Liesbeth weaves incredible flights of fancy it seems almost daily. Lisa can always be counted on for cogent comments. Can you imagine what a great dinner party you could have with these kinds of folks?

I say .... Congress will do what hey have to do! And hope for the best. Javier \ud83d\udc1d beBee is right when warning about monopolystic position of Facebook. But in one other way, ecosystems are made of different species rights, what ever both actors are modeling as for their users experience it will remain in the all in one UI. And this is where they make a big mistake. Apps should be specialized and address a specific market segment. Mark my words.

I agree with David on many of his points here. Plus there is a huge change coming about with all social media directions with new parties coming to the table based on chats with hundreds of CEOs and business contacts I have. CNN Executives have been concerned with not growing their base with young folks, and the current audience is aging baby boomers that are dying off. Talking with Nester the other day, CNN paid $27 million for his blogging site and now Beme will be someone to watch. Many other similar companies coming online per my Apple and MIT contacts. We will see beBee here as one of those leaders. I am fortunate to work with everyone here to grow this Affinity application & am here to help 24 x 7. Here's another prediction, Javier, per the comment on FB fast becoming a monopoly: the U.S. Congress will ultimately regulate FB like a public utility (phone and electric companies). Perhaps this will set a global standard. Monopolies violate long-standing American corporate anti-trust laws. Moreover, let's not forget about the disturbing revelations -- and American disgust -- about FB knowingly selling political ads to Russian operatives for the purpose of unduly influencing the 2016 presidential election and causing civil unrest in the USA with fake accounts by purported black activists to stoke the flames of racial division. Kudos Javier on another exemplary blogging buzz. Please forgive my belated reply. You hit on many salient points, as usual. I would reiterate the point that beBee really does serve as a bridge between LI and FB. Therefore, beBee plays a vital role in bridging the gap between the personal and professional, which is what makes this platform so unique and advantageous for so many of us. I also want to reiterate that bigger is not necessarily always better when it comes to social media. To wit: while LI boasts of 500 million members, how many are active on a daily, weekly or monthly basis? Engagement rates speak volumes about the efficacy of any social media site -- and engagement on beBee has always been high, as has user satisfaction. These are two critically important social media metrics which beBee needs to maintain and build upon, as others have noted. Lastly, LI and FB are, for all practical purposes, social media dinosaurs already -- having been around for so long, perhaps too long. And despite the high membership numbers, both platforms appear to be in trouble for different reasons. This is why I firmly believe that FB and LI represent the past, whereas beBee represents the future. Most of us are familiar with the saying, "The bigger they come, the harder they fall." Moreover, no company in any industry is "too big to fail" -- as witnessed by the U.S. banking/financial crisis which Presidents Bush and Obama were forced to confront. In sum, beBee is well positioned to pick up where FB and LI leave off. And, like anything else, FB and LI won't be around forever -- despite the "conventional wisdom" to the contrary. Thus, bravo to beBee!

LinkedIn will survive because there is a certain elitism within the market that it accommodates. It is not just social that LinkedIn users dislike, there is very little representation for working class folk. Facebook has an advantage here that it can monopolize a fresh blue ocean of its users and convert them to its work based offering, but people tend to overlook that the primary facet of Facebook is that it is a marketing juggernaut, and so where it is will eat into LinkedIn revenues is mass recruitment and thus may end up being more valuable as a sourcing system for HR and the recruiter field. The usual LinkedIn member refrain is that "we are not Facebook", but the usual Facebook member does not say "we are not LinkedIn". That is a critical difference and that is the door that has been left open for Facebook to disrupt this market, and Facebook won't be too worried about that, where they see major $dollar signs, one can be sure that as the greatest marketing machine of the 21st Century, they will mop up and bank these new containers. Facebook has already captured mass market life, it has a presence in mass market play and now it will complete it's conquest with mass market work.

beBee is not an alternative and i believe Javier \ud83d\udc1d beBee will concur. BeBee is a complete independent platform of communication (communicare in latin means "Put together"). Its success relies on people authencity (versus role players/pretenders), simplicity and affinities. After that you cannot control the way people are taking directions, which can of use they make with beBee. BeBee = freedom of use, no targeted compulsary business intent. If or when people do business thanks to beBee: YOU CAN ADD Return On Investment (of time) to the platform's benefit. beBee doesn't need to compete or compare to peers. because beBee is unique. Untill i onbard beBee, everyone from any groups of above mentionned social medias were pitching me lip gloss to bitcoins investment i didn't even care about. BeBee no one, zero individual did dare to annoy me with useless product and service pitch. Seems bees have ethics or greed-less.

Good point Robert Cormack. Headhunters, hiring whatever they can hype call themselves, they are already commodities in the recruitment business, and they know it. Sadly they give up one after another because paid on commission if the client wants isn't a decent business model. Jobs getting scarce, it is no longer about hiring or being hired, it is about paying a fair value before job done. All the rest is noise around a commitment process: employee (deliverables) employer (capacity to pay on the long term both loyalty and deliverables). Flexibility will works 2 ways more and more. LinkedIn, was that an obsolete attempt to make a lot of money making people they were important to +10K emplyers? That LinkedIn ? ;)

Your best point: "Business is becoming more social." I laugh when LinkedIn users protest beBee posts that aren't "business." These are all the headhunters, of course. They think they've got their "turf" and they don't want to give up any real estate. Today—as beBee realizes—social interests and business interests can often be one in the same. How headhunters miss this is a little strange. Shouldn't they have been the first people to recognize this? Is their business about people?

Oops ya Chas I know but I never really accepted that fact LOL it's like I still don't want to believe whose the President of the States. Thanks for correcting me :) Linkedin will stay but will be unable to get the engagement levels up like facebook, every person I dash into is scrolling the wall on Facebook or Instagram and if you bump into me I'm on beBee and Linkedin and now started my engagement on Instagram too. Now we just need every one of beBee to stay in action. We need to see that quality content and have some more features that will use beBee as a foundation to build on and reach/ link and draw the other audiences on the other platforms.

I agree with Chas \u270c\ufe0f Wyatt . I am tired of Facebook and go there occasionally only because some people can be contacted only on that platform. I don't think they'll completely do away with Instagram, Twitter, and snapchat but Linkedin is in trouble for the job market. I agree they have competition because I can find more candidates on Facebook than on LinkedIn. beBee is the best not only because beBee is empowering the hives but beBee empowers people as well. The golden rule is about helping, learning, teaching and supporting the people you are connected to. 100% that beBee enables you to form meaningful human connections on a personal and professional level. #beBeelove #beBeerocks :)

Here is. Goodie for PR. When I started beBee I was.a happy social media users with 7k+ in my network, year one isn't over since I registered with beBee: I had to build an account based Marketing server to manage more than 944K+ Accounts and interact with them. I owe beBee my today's personal brand.

I am enjoying already and I found the mean to bring new users to beBee taking advantage of data analytics, audience's behaviors and users conversion automated marketing. MybeBeeTV has turned into technologies at the service of the brand ambassador mission. It converts users to a new lifestyle . BeBee's. BTW, did you get a chance for final revision of BA's documents a Juan Imaz wrote to me recently, when can we expect them?

Facebook relies on a business canvas with the base on the greatest common denominator. They professionalized promotion of your contents you can buy cheap $ and acquire extended outreach. Now why would you spend significant time on a platform, what is in it for you? LinkedIn failed, fails an will fail. You cannot escape you data facts by doing cosmetics changes and no interactive innovative feature that enhance UX. Change the game or die. That also apply to us Javier \ud83d\udc1d beBee.
